xmas in vegas
green valley ranch: very nice spa, so-so food, attached movie theatre. yummy massages and jacuzzi. tried to convince G to see 'sweeney todd' but was unsuccessful. watched 'i am legend' and found it boring.
O: excellent show, especially from 2nd row center. got only very slightly splashed. G's blackberry jumped off of his belt clip at some point shortly before the show started, leading to some panic and a less enjoyable show experience for him. remarkably, someone turned it in at the front desk and we were able to recover it from lost and found the next day.
wyndham timeshare pitch: woke up with the beginnings of a cold and was sneezing my head off the entire time. told the poor guy i must be allergic to sales people. i think it threw him off his game a bit.
harrah's: not bad for a free hotel room. walked 'walk the line' for free in exchange for viewing a short m$ commercial. filled the trash cans with tissue and champagne bottles.
xmas day: more crowded than i expected. somewhat depressing to see so many people spending xmas slouched zombielike in front of slot machines. ate at caesar's buffet, saw many frightening outfits.
not done due to head cold: stripclub, hiking at red rock canyon, excessive drinking.
good to know: there is a 24hr walgreens at the mgm grand end of the strip that has a 24hr pharmacy. yay pseudoephedrine! boo stupid drug laws.
my cell phone also managed to fall out of my pocket at the food court in caesar's, but someone picked it up and answered when we called it, so i got it back in short order.
G had to work for a good portion of the "vacation" during which he was supposed to be in cryogenic suspension in antartica. i am beginning to develop a dislike for the french.

glad you dug O. i still think it's cirque's flagship show; striking the right balance between its bigtop roots and its theatrical evolution.
bummer about the french. the 7-hour workday and liberal attitude toward vacation time has given me nothing but love for the work ethic (from the pov of the worker, at least).

working for the french in france is probably great, but trying to get them to cooperate from here is a pain in the f-ing ass. G had to take calls at 3am two of our nights in vegas, and just last night somebody called at midnight to chew his ear off for half an hour over something they thought wasn't their responsibility, but that couldn't be clarified until this morning here. being responsible for two related projects that are halfway around the world from each other is teh suck. thankfully, they've hired someone in france who will be taking much of that load off of G when he gets up to speed. hopefully.
