time to enter proposition hell

my voter guides/pamphlets and absentee ballot have been sitting in a neat little stack on my desk for quite some time now, and i keep putting off opening any of them. i hate this state's stupid proposition system, forcing us to vote on things we know nothing about... who the fuck has time to do the extensive research that would be required to really be an educated voter? so we just vote no on everything or look at the lists of who supports what, or try to figure out from the abbreviated and often misleading sumamries what the hell the issues really are, but hardly any of us really have enough information to make informed decisions. direct democracy simply isn't scalable to this level. isn't that why we elect representatives? blah. well here i go, wish me luck!
