week of leisure

yosemite was extremely hot, but fun. no climbing under the scorching sun of doom, but we did do the approach hike to the base of el cap and hopped up on a ledge to take some pictures of ourselves "climbing" el cap.

we drove in over sunday night to get a site in camp 4 on monday morning, then just hung out the rest of the day. tuesday we went up to tenaya lake and scouted out the approach hike to the climb we had researched on tenaya peak. we didn't make it all the way up to the base of the climb, but we'd done enough to know we certainly weren't going to attempt the climb in the blazing hot sun. after lunch, the rest of the afternoon was spent on the lake.

wednesday morning we got up early and drove up to the rim to do the north dome hike. it was quite pleasant in the morning, but oh my god the way back was pretty grueling in the midday heat. never were we so glad to make it back to the airconditioned car... (we didn't hike all the way out to the dome, but stopped for lunch just above it and decided that we had a very fine view from there, thankyouverymuch, and didn't need to hike down the rest of the way to north dome itself just to have to hike back up.)

we spent thursday on the merced with the kayaks and beer, friday did the el cap hike, then headed back saturday morning. wished we could've stayed longer of course. spent saturday night and sunday cleaning up and decompressing, missed warming skye and paul's new house, but looking forward to seeing it in its allsetup state soon.

must figure out what to wear for the fandango apocalypse tomorrow night...
