so it's really seeming like i'm not ready for this going back to school thing... i do have enough motivation to do the reading, which is something, but i can't muster enough for the actual work involved, alas. i'm almost regretting deciding to devote this semester to a grad school "trial run". other things that were more important to me, like getting healthier, have fallen by the wayside in the face of schoolwork. i am definitely looking forward to my classes being over and having more time for myself again. i will get back to going to the gym regularly and work on strengthening my knees so i can hopefully return to jujitsu, maybe find a yoga class, go dancing more often, read more... asl 4 is being offered only at night next semester, so i won't be taking that. i'll probably be taking fingerspelling, which is only 2 hrs a week, and maybe also just auditing port101a again, since i stopped doing the work for that class a while ago. i think 5 hrs of class a week (as opposed to the 14 i'm doing now) will be tolerable.

reading today's jon carroll. according to their website, the acta is "a nonprofit educational organization committed to academic freedom, excellence, and accountability on college and university campuses. It supports programs and policies that encourage high academic standards, strong curricula, and the free exchange of ideas." how they can claim to encourage the free exchange of ideas while vilifying academics who actually do so is beyond my little brain, encumbered as it is with logic... i'm tired of crying when i read about what's actually going on in the world. i kind of wish i could convince myself to just stop caring. sigh.
