I definitely had problems with the insomnia, and I'd also get really groggy immediately after taking it. They both seem to be clearing up lately.
I find that I have trouble getting to sleep if I take my lexapro later in the day than about 3pm. I usually manage to remember it by then, though. You could try changing the time at which you take one or both drugs, to maybe even things out somewhat...
Also, buspirone is somewhat sedating. A lot less so than the other anti-anxiety drugs out there (benzodiazepines: also commonly prescribed to help people sleep), but it might cause you some trouble still.
It's supposed to get better with time. It has for me and most of the other people I've talked with about it. Sucks in the meantime, though...
