positive thinking

many thanks to everyone for all the kind words.

here's how i've decided to interpret the cards the universe dealt me:
1. the guys had likely cased our house before, and knew that usually nobody was home during the day.
2. they were probably really annoyed that i was home sick, but when i left to go to urgent care, they decided to at least take advantage while they were there and (not knowing how soon i'd be back) grab what they could in 20 min.
3. if i hadn't left the house at all yesterday, they would have given up and perhaps come back today while i was at work and cleaned us out.
4. therefore, being home sick and breaking toe was all for the best! or something.
