the USENIX LISA conference is going ahead as planned in san diego right now. everyone is wearing dust masks and trying to ignore the ash falling on their heads. fedex has rerouted the very important package i sent overnight on friday. it was in ontario, california, yesterday. right next door to its final destination. and where is it today? go on, guess. ... fort worth! they sent it to texas! i have pleaded with them to do their best to get it back to southern california by tomorrow morning so that someone can drive over and pick it up. they aren't sending their drivers out, see. no deliveries being made in southern california. air quality concerns or something. feh.

update: fedex says the package is probably still in ontario. gremlins got into their scanning system and made everything say it's in fort worth this morning. whee.
