when electrical appliances start emitting pretty sparks from the cord when you plug them in, i guess it's time for the trash, alas.
i really wish someone would get around to inventing a dream recording device. in the meantime i suppose i should be more dilligent about writing my dreams down as soon as i get up. i have some amazingly wacky dreams, and i so wish i could remember them more easily. it's such a pain trying to get them into words sometimes.
i am procrastinating beginning the apartment cleaning that i must do today. i should probably at least get a load of laundry in soon. in the meantime i am futzing with my pictures from harbin and should finally get around to writing up my dream from last week and transcribing the one i wrote down at harbin. last night i had a crazy dream involving a train and being incognito and putting on a play and having bounty hunters after us...
hung out at karen's mom's place on friday night. karen and i made risotto and anthony and kyra came over for dinner and we watched some eddie izzard. i crashed there, then yesterday afternoon on the way back to the east bay we took the scenic route over the hill that's just past the haight and found a nice little park at the top of it, so we walked up to the peak and admired the view and then found a swingset. i haven't just hung out and walked around and been relaxed and in a good mood like that in a long time, so that was really nice. met up with anthony and kyra again for dinner at mario's, then browsed at moe's for awhile. karen wanted to head home early and wasn't up for really _doing_ anything else, but suggested we take a drive in tilden, so we headed up centennial and drove down to skyline and back on 13, pretty night city views and david grisman mandolin in the cd player. we dropped karen off at ashby bart and then decided to rent a movie, watched igby goes down which was not bad, then back to my chilly apartment and a good chat with geoff on aim. it's been a nice relaxing and rejuvenating several days, harbin, exchanging email with carol and coming to a more balanced point of view on the situation and letting go of much of the anger that i was directing towards her, having some good chats with geoff, blasting music and dancing around my office on friday, hanging out and chilling with friends, and now tackling my disaster of an apartment and getting my homelife back into some semblance of order, paying bills, balancing my checkbook, going through the pile of mail on my desk, washing my dishes and putting away the piles of laundry. i'm feeling generally quite positive and looking forward to nye at ryan&div's.

IIRC there are shops in Berkeley that do stuff like this if you don't want to do it yourself.
