uncooperative girly bits

my period was set to start around about tuesday, which would have been very convenient, since the bulk of my bleeding would be over by this weekend, when geoff and i will be going backpacking in the high sierras. however, it is now friday and i have yet to start bleeding, which means either i am pregnant or i will be bleeding heavily in the middle of the wilderness where i have to pack out all of my trash, neither of which possibilities are very pleasant to think about. are bears interested in bloody tampons? i do NOT want to have to put them in the bear container with our food! grumble.

edit: i finally started bleeding this afternoon. sigh.

I have heard that bears have a liking for the menstrual blood. I agree that putting used tampons in with the food is kinda gross...I would suggest double or triple ziploc bagging them. Overnight, just bury it 200 ft or so away from your camp (with a marker so you can find it again in the morning). I have known women to abort their trips entirely for fear of bear attraction. :\ Good luck either way!
