so i was kind of randomly browsing the intranet at work yesterday and found out that the fitness center was having a mobile dunk tank come today. i've been meaning to get my body composition dunk tested for a long time, but never got around to it, so i signed up pronto, at which point i discovered they were also offering RMR measurement, which i was even more interested in getting done!
the results were mostly what i expected, except that my RMR actually measured as faster than i would have thought. (RMR was measured by indirect calorimetry; i.e., breathing through a tube into a
machine for 15 minutes.)
RMR = 1771 Cal/day
(this is 16% above "normal" for a woman my age, height, and weight. i guess working out is working!)
body composition (171.8 lbs):
- fat = 33.7% (57.8 lbs)
- lean mass = 66.3% (114 lbs)
my weight would only need to be 146 lbs to have "ideal" body fat of 22%, and that's with no change to lean mass. that makes me happy, because my goal is to get back to 150 while gaining some more muscle. perfect! and even just getting down to 160 would put me at 29%, which would be a big improvement. getting these tests done is motivating me to start being better about my diet again and getting rid of some of that fat.
